Bacteria On Chicken

It seems that chickens are dangerous when dead! We all know there are bacteria on chicken, but do we know just how bad it is?

Quite a few years ago, I posted a YouTube vlog about bacteria on chickens. It was from an article I had read. After watching it again, I realised it was as relevant today as it was back then.

The department of bacteriology medical school university of Bristol in England researched the flow of microorganisms from animals to humans.

They studied 40 households and gave each of them whole frozen chicken (obviously, no vegans were in the mix) to cook. Among other things, they wanted to see if the uncooked carcass provided the opportunity to transmit E. coli.

What they found was astonishing. The bacteria jumped from the chicken INTO … Drum roll … the gut of the volunteers BEFORE they had eaten it.😱

I’m going to guess and say they breathed in the bacteria??? Within days the bacteria had multiplied to become a significant part of the person’s gut flora. Now that’s not as bad as it appears, as rotten bacteria only lasts in the gut for about ten days because the good bacteria come along and get rid of it. (Hey, I never said I’d speak scientifically 😂)
